About the show

Created by Canadian rock icon Greg Godovitz, he and regular CFRB contributor Bob Reid brought Rock Talk to the air on CFRB in May, 2006 and co-hosted the program together for exactly two years.  In May of this year, Greg moved to Calgary and signed-off as co-host, though he continues to assist with producing the program.

Rock Talk continues to air every Sunday night from 6-7 PM with Bob and new co-host Blair Packham (acclaimed singer-songwriter, producer, music educator and former leader of The Jitters), bringing you a wide variety of guests from all aspects of the world of music.

Jeff Healey was one of Canada’s – and the world’s – greatest musicians.  Jeff lost his battle with cancer on March 2nd, 2008, but his music and his legacy will live on.  Rock Talk paid special tribute to Jeff Healey one week after his death, bringing together friends, band-mates and some of Canada’s biggest names to share their reflections on his passing.

Rock Talk Remembers Warren Zevon

Some described him using his own song titles: "Exciteable Boy"  "Genius" - Bruce Springsteen called him "a moralist in cynic's clothing" and, simply, "one of THE great American songwriters."

Warren Zevon was best known for his biggest radio hit, "Werewolves of London," but the depth and breadth of his songwriting catalogue earned him the admiration of such luminaries as Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and many others.

Listen as Greg Godovitz and Bob Reid speak with one of the people who knew Warren Zevon best, his ex-wife Crystal Zevon, author of "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon.  They're also joined by Craig Northey of the Vancouver-based band The Odds, who served as Warren's backing band on tour across Canada and the U.S., and Toronto singer-songwriter Blair Packham closes the show with a live acoustic performance of Zevon's classic "Carmelita."
