Is Jim Flaherty Really the Right Guy?

We all know the saying - WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE TOUGH GET GOING...

...and I know Jim Flaherty's a tough guy...but is he really the right guy to be steering the ship as we ride out this Perfect Storm?

The waves are crashing over the bow and Captain Jim is facing aft from the poop deck. He's the last guy in the country to finally say we'll need to run a deficit. Even at that, he can't say in such a way that doesn't sound like he's covering his political hynee!

Show some frickin' vision would ya? Show some leadership.

Say it out loud. WE HAVE TO HAVE A BUDGET DEFICIT. WE MUST SPEND MONEY. WE MUST BE PREPARED TO RUN UP THE CREDIT CARD IN THE SHORT TERM.

You can speak loudly and strongly without frightening people.

There's nothing wrong with carrying debt. It just has to be managed properly, that means setting limits and priorities and having a plan to pay it off! That's home economics 101.

But no, Jim Flaherty still wants to be seen to be the guy who is protecting taxpayers money. He needs to be protecting tax payers.
