Holiday partygoers in Newmarket Aurora get a free ride home

The Ontario Safety league and Insurance Bureau of Canada are teaming up with thousands of volunteers to help reduce the number of drunk drivers on the road this holiday season. They've set up Operation Red Nose in 7 communities across Ontario including one in Newmarket Aurora. Listen to Lisa Naccarato's report on Operation Red Nose
Operation Red Nose started 25 years ago in Quebec, it's a designated driver program, that will take tipsy drivers and their vehicles home for free during the holiday season. Brian Patterson with the Ontario Safety league says it's a easy alternative to breaking the law or worse causing a collision.
"As our volunteers are ready to serve and get you home one way, I'm happy to say that there are lots of police officers ready to take you home another way if you're not prepared to listen to this message."
Right now the Newmarket Aurora community is the only one in the GTA that offers operation red nose, but organizers are hoping it will eventually spread to other Toronto area communities.
