Police search for suspects in theft ring

Seven people are facing 158 charges in connection with an organized theft ring that has been targeting a number of stores across Southern Ontario for the past year.

Detective Lester Wright says the suspects targeted LCBO, Staples, Home Depot and grocery stores across Southern Ontario, managing to steal tens of thousands of dollars worth of products.

"They would go into, for example, the liquor store, and they would break a few bottles and tie up the floor personnel. And when they (the store staff) were distracted, they would walkout with shopping carts full of booze, or computers from Staples."

Detectives say two of the suspects are already behind bars, three have been charged, but are out on bail, and two, Brett Cutajar and Karleen Alexander, are still being sought by police.
