Provinces makes it easier to say "I'm sorry"

It may soon become easier to say you're sorry.   The provincial government is introducing legislation to allow people and organizations to apologize for wrong doing without it being held against them in court.

Attorney general  Chris Bentley feels that allowing people to apologize without fear of legal implications, could help resolve disputes and reduce the number of lawsuits.

"We've all heard time and again, plaintiffs, those who are bring lawsuits say, "Well, if only her or she had apologized. Much of what I was looking for was an apology."

Under the apology Act, public institutions like hospitals and individuals can apologize for an accident or wrongdoing without that being used as evidence of liability in a civil case.   But Bentley points out the legislation will in no way affect a victim's right to sue or receive compensation.
