Hotel Workers Rally

As contract negotiations continue for hotel workers at the Fairmont Royal York, Members of Unite Here Local 75 held a rally and march outside the Fairmont Royal York as a part of the "Hotel Workers Rising" campaign.
The rally follows a gathering of about two dozen union members at city hall Thursday morning where
Vice president of the union, Zaleeda Davis, presented City Councillor, Gord Perks, with over 4000 pledge cards signed by hotel and immigrant workers.
With over half the city's population born outside of Canada, immigrant workers are vital to the economy. The campaigns motto: "We are the new majority"
After contract deals were made at the Airport Radisson and Holiday Inn, Fairmont workers are hopeful that a contract deal will be reached by the 7pm deadline on Friday.
Benefits for part-time workers and a decrease in housekeeping duties are among the demands made by workers.
