Americans in Toronto rally behind Obama

Listen to Tamara Baluja's report. About two dozen American and Canadian dual citizens celebrated 4th of July by showing their support for Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. They held signs such as "Obama 08" and "Americans in Toronto love Obama". Cars driving by honked to show their support for Obama.
Chair of Democrats Abroad Canada, Adrienne Jones, says standing on the bridge at Spadina and Front fits in very well with the Yes, We Span the Bridge for Obama Walk. "He brings people together and closes the gaps and divisions, so its very symbolic to hold this rally on the bridge", Jones said.
The Democrats Abroad have taken their picture on the bridge with the CN Tower in the background. And this picture will join the Support Obama website with other pictures of Obama supporters worldwide that are how somehow symbolic of their own cities
Monique, a black American from California says the idea of Barack Obama as the first black president of America is simply overwhelming. She says she still gets frustrated when people see Obama as only the 'black' candidate but she said at least people will begin to change their perceptions of black people.
