Plan to Help Casinos with Sports Betting

With revenues at casinos falling, a published report in the Star says that the provincial government is asking the federal government to change the criminal code to allow casino patrons to be able to bet on sports events such as football, baseball, hockey, basketball and soccer.

Currently, betting on sports is allowed only through the government's Pro-Line Lottery.

The province is hoping for the change at Casino Rama and casinos in Niagara Falls, and Windsor but the change could also apply to racetracks, including Woodbine.
