Municipalities get $1B more for infrastructure
Ontario's public transit systems, roads and public housing will soon receive a major cash injection. The premier announced today that his government will invest another 1 billion dollars this year in municipal public infrastructure projects
Dalton McGuinty says the money will help grow the province's economy now and in the future.
"When you invest in infrastructure, that's good both in the short term, in terms of job creation and it's good in the long term because it enhances our productivity."
We'll learn how the billion dollars for roads, bridges transit and public housing will be distributed to cities and towns next Tuesday when the budget is delivered. This money is on top of the 450 million dollars already announced for municipal infrastructure needs this year.
