Ontario may adopt new measures to help crack down on sexual predators who prey on children. Etobicoke Lakeshore Liberal MPP Laurel Broten (Broh-ten) has introduced a private members bill that if passed, would define child pornography as an image of child abuse. The bill would require anyone who comes across an image of child of pornography to report it to police. Laurel Broten a long time child advocate says that includes anyone working within the computer industry like a repair technician. "It's not your job to determine if it is or it isn't, you need to report it so that child who may be in need of protection can be assisted." "If you saw a child being abused on the street, you'd pick up the phone and you'd report it. Because that image come to you through a computer screen you should not act any differently." Attorney general Chris Bentley says he's willing to look at anything that helps fight child porn but isn't ready to say if he'll support the bill.
