CFRB's "Summer Beat" program is a year long paid internship for three students. They are each hired on a full time basis through the summer months from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day weekend as "General Assignment" reporters in the CFRB Newsroom. They are expected to work as weekend reporters on a part-time basis throughout their final school year.
Students must be returning to school in the fall to be eligible for this program.
This is a rigorous program that requires a commitment to excellence in broadcast journalism. Successful applicants will have a firm grasp of technical newsroom production skills, will be engaging in their writing and presentation, and will demonstrate initiative and the ability to work efficiently under demanding deadlines.
Application packages must include:Demos in the following format: - MP3 (via email ONLY)
- CD (AUDIO)
Cassettes and CDs with data files will be discarded- Demos must include:
- one 3 minute newscast
- two 30-40s wraparound reports
Reports should cover the SAME STORY, each reflecting different angles or versions of the story
- Hard copy of the newscast and wraparound scripts
- A resume and a cover letter
- A current home and cellular phone number
- A current email address
