Each summer Toronto hosts all kinds of events, from the introduction of this year's Luminato Festival to the annual Jazz Festival.

One annual event however, didn't make the cut this year. The Celebrate Toronto Street Festival usually draws over a million festival goers into the city's downtown core.

The Mayors office wouldn't comment on why there is no Celebrate Toronto Street Festival planned for this summer but Toronto's Special Events says the city has so much planned that it didn't want the festival to be a "shoulder event" to potentially larger summer celebrations.

The weekend-long Streetfest in July usually turns a stretch of downtown Yonge Street intersections into a festive celebration with acts from buskers, stilt-walkers, musicians, and jugglers.

The Streetfest has run for the past eight summers but some Torontonians may be disappointed to find out it won't see year number nine.
