Limiting gasoline purchases
(Dave Agar/John Elston, CFRB News) If you are in need of gasoline, your favourite gas station may not have any for you. If it does, it may restrict how much you can buy. As an example, Petro Canada at Avenue Road and Eglinton Avenue is limiting gas purchases to 75 litres.
As the shortage at Esso stations and Canadian Tire gas bars continues, the demand on other gas stations is causing some shortages. Chief among them is Petro Canada. Shell Canada also reports a handful of closures in the GTA.
This is largely the result of the fire at the Imperial Oil refinery in Nanticoke but it's exacerbated by the CN Rail strike, and the fact that it's winter and the companies can't get in enough supplies from other parts of the country. The St. Lawrence Seaway, for example, won't open until March 20th.
