Long Weekend Police Campaign

Fri, 2008-05-16 06:10.
Ontario Provincial Police plan officers in aircraft, on boats, on ATVs on trails, and of course on the highways during this first long weekend of the warm weather season.
But you may not notice some of the officers on the ground, as some of them will be on motorbikes and in unmarked cars.
It's a big effort by the O.P.P. to crack down on aggressive and impaired drivers. Sergeant Cam Woolley told CFRB News that during this Victoria Day weekend, they expect to pass the 5,000 mark for the number of people who have been charged since Ontario's new street-racing legislation came into effect. It applies for anyone doing 50 kilometres an hour over the speed limit.
