Brampton Hospital Shake Up

Fri, 2008-01-25 11:52.
Three top executives, including CEO Robert Richards have resigned from the helm of Brampton Civic Hospital.
It comes as the new hospital continues to deal with problems surrounding staffing levels, waiting times and communication issues.
Along with Richards, Chief Nursing Officer Brenda Elsbury and Vice President of Finance Vicki Truman voluntarily submitted their resignations to the hospital's board of directors.
The hospital is currently under the watchful eye of provincial supervisor, Ken White who was appointed by Health Minister George Smitherman last month to look at the facility and fix some of its outstanding issues.
White tells The Toronto Star that the hospital can expect more voluntary resignations and dismissals at all levels of management in the coming months.
He says she's been pleased with what he has seen from the front line staff at Brampton Civic and says the hospital just needs 'a little fixing'.
One hospital worker, who didnt want to be identified told CFRB News that he was pleased by some of the changes. "There has to be changes at the top, before the rest of us will feel it." he said, after wrapping up a 12 hour shift at the facility.
Problems at the hospital actually prompted a protest through downtown Brampton back in December, attended by over 15-hundred people.
The three top executives that resigned will likely receive hefty severance packages for their time at the hospital, but Chair Duncan Glaholt wouldnt comment on just how much they may be worth.
