Bus Crash

Bus Crash

Seat belts on a school bus may prevented injury and even death this morning when a mini-bus and a car collided on Victoria Park during the morning rush hour.   Parents and fire officials say the belts may have prevented a tragedy.

The bus was carrying 4 young kids, all between 4 and 6 years old when a Honda civic making a U turn smashed into the vehicle sending it into a tree.

While the woman driving the car was sent to hospital with minor injuries all of the children and the bus driver were okay.

Danny Gill is a captain with Toronto fire says if not for the bus's seat belts this collision could have a lot worse.

"With this type of impact (the kids) would have been thrown all over that bus...it's not just a forward impact there was a sharp turn, the kids could have really been thrown around."

But in the end none of the kids needed medical care.
