It wasn't the wake-up call they were expected, but one couple is counting their lucky stars today after a whole wall of their ground-level condominium suite was taken out by a dump truck.
Listen to Amber Gero's Report.
Police say it was around 7:30a.m. Monday morning when a dump truck travelling Northbound on Yonge approaching the 401 slammed into the back of a stalled car.
"The dump truck continued on a short distance, up and over the curb striking a pole. It ended up rolling backwards down the ravine and into the building behind us."said Toronto Police Sergeant Tim Burrows.
Police say a woman sleeping inside her ground floor unit at 28 William Carson Crescent was thrown from her bed. She was treated for cuts and bruises. Her husband, who was home at the time, was not injured.
Investigators say as the truck began rolling backwards the driver jumped out.
About nine units were evacuated and the water had been shut off to the building. Engineers were brought in to make sure that the building is structurally sound.
