It's all about giving Ontario a fair shake.

Premier Dalton McGuinty continues to ask federal leaders to give him their plans for helping the province's economy. Mcguinty says he just wants an economic development plan for southern Ontario much like those already in place for Quebec, Atlantic Canada and the north. He says the way things are now, Ontario doesn't get one cent of the billions of dollars it contributes to equalization payments handed out to other provinces.

CFRB's Katie Franzios has more.

McGuinty is also asking the public to help Ottawa see how much the extra investment is needed. Hesays economists predict Ontario may turn into a have-not province in a couple of years. That's why he's started on online petition to get answers. It can be found at http://www.fairness.ca/.

McGuinty has written to the leaders of each of the federal parties asking what they propose to do to help the province. He's asked them to reply by October 3rd.

McGuinty made the comments while speaking to the Economic Club of Toronto.
