Ontario 95

Building on last year's health care investment, Ontario is pumping more money into child care. An investment of $14.2 million will be put towards improving services and decreasing wait-times for paediatric surgeries.

The money will provide six new neonatal intensive care beds, helping almost 130 babies a year. Those beds are just a handful of 22 more intensive care beds that will be in hospitals across the province.

Minister of Health and Long-Term Care David Caplan says, on average, 20 critically ill children had to be transported to other provinces to get the care they needed.

The money will also go towards improving infection control in the newborn ICU and improving technology in the newborn care system.
