Mark Carcasole's report on the TTC's new drug testing policy

Despite opposition from the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 who represents TTC workers, the Commission has passed new drug testing rules for all "safety-critical" staff such as vehicle operators and mechanics.

The initial plan was for random drug testing, which had the union up in arms, but the plan, passed at Thursday's meeting, has seen a bit of a makeover.

Union President Bob Kinnear still won't rule out a potential walkoutor some other job action over the TTC's decision, and still thinks it's a violation of his workers' rights.
