Mission in Motion
Mission in Motion

Yonge Street Mission has long served the poor in Regent Park. The Mission has now been asked to focus on St. James Town. Rated as the most densely-populated area in Canada, the area is grossly under-serviced in terms of agency support and is called a 'poverty trap' by many observers. The Mission recognizes that poverty has spread to new areas other than just the downtown core. In the next five years they plan to expand to meet the needs of these areas.
In October, Yonge Street Mission will be hosting two events:
Oct 1: Parliament and Gerrard Centre will officially open a newly refurbished Youth Room and Kitchen space
Oct.30: the second annual Bright Lights Gala will be held at the ROM.

Dave Trafford spoke with David Adcock, Vice President and COO of Yonge Street Mission on Toronto at Noon (September 15/08). You can listen to the interview here.
