The federal government will be helping Toronto fight youth gangs over the next few years. Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day announcing Wednesday afternoon at Polson Pier that his government is giving the City almost $5 million dollars for the "Preventing Youth Gang Activity in Toronto Project".

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day says a potential federal election won't affect the deal, and that the continuation of the project after the pilots are over depends on how successful it is.
Malvern, Jamestown and Kingston-Galloway have already been identified as priority areas among others.
