Days after Maple Leaf foods became linked to the listeriosis outbreak across the country, .a class action lawsuit is being launched against the company.

It didn't take too long for lawyers to get involved. Maple Leaf recalled almost two dozen of its deli products last week and evidence surfaced this weekend that listeria bacteria in Maple Leaf products is the source of a number of deaths in the fatal outbreak. 21 other cases have been confirmed nationwide.

Montreal-based lawyer Tony Merchant is handling the suit and is looking for those who may have been affected by the outbreak via his law firm's website. He says around 300 people have become a part of the class-action suit so far -everyone from those who purchased the products and are worried and those who are actually experience listeriosis symptoms.
