Toronto Police are appealing the public for any information on the fatal shooting of Michael George last year in Scarborough. The 25-year-old man was found shot several times in his car near Morningside and Finch. Police have set up a 50 thousand dollar reward for anyone who can give more information about the shooting.
Detective Sergeant Dan Neilson said, "I am confident that there are people out there who have the answers we are looking for, and hopefully this reward will prompt them to come forward". Neilson says people have been coming forward, but these sources have not been able to give police what they need to make arrests. But he hopes the reward will prompt anyone who hasn't come forward yet, for whatever reason - to do so now.
George was a student at Centennial college, and wasn't known to be involved in any sort of criminal or questionable activity. He was on his way to his girlfiriend's home from a party when he was shot at 3 am in the morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS.
Meanwhile, the community in the Wilcox Creek Co-op where George was killed gathered to honour his memory by dedicating a new children's playground in the Wilcox Creek Co-op to him.
The city's executive committee okays environmental assessment and wants to give proposal to province.
