Sending in over 120 workers crews hired by The City has taken over clean-up efforts from last weekend's propane explosion.
Sunrise Propane was originally supposed to take care of the mess, but the city stepped in to speed things up.
But at about a week after the blast most residents are saying it's too little too late.
“This site to wake up to something like this makes you feel like you’re on Mars…it makes you feel like you live in a concentration camp,” says Stephanie who was told is was safe to go home on Wednesday.
As crews clad in white jump suits and masks vacuum the sidewalks, and tediously comb through the grass on their hands and knees, every block around the blast site the buzz of air monitors can be heard checking for asbestos.
Homeowners have been told city crews will be by cleaning off each of their houses: scouring eaves troughs, walls, and lawns.
No word yet on how long the cleanup will take, how much it's going to cost, or who's paying for it.
The city's executive committee okays environmental assessment and wants to give proposal to province.
