Mark Carcasole's report on the 12-hour hotel strike

After a similar protest Tuesday at the Radisson Suite, workers at another Dixon Road hotel, under the same ownership, have staged another 12-hour walk out on Wednesday, from noon to midnight, to demand better wages in collective bargaining.

Dozens, who've been working without a contract since last September, marched across the driveway of the Holiday Inn Airport East, which is located near the Martin Grove intersection.  They allowed cars in but were urging people not to check in, though it didn't seem anytone turned away from the hotel due to their request.

Hotel workers from across the city are expected to come together in solidarity on this issue for a mass rally outside City Hall July 24th.  Especially workers at another Westmont-owned hotel, the Fairmont Royal York downtown.  Worker contracts for that hotel expire July 27th.
