Katie Franzios reports on the City Councillors Gardiner tour.

There's been talk about levelling the Gardiner in some way, shape or form for years. Now that Mayor David Miller is on board to take down portions of the elevated expressway, he's decided to show other city councillors via TTC bus where it would be coming down and what would be in its place.

"Wherever you live, you need your heart to succeed," said Miller. "Toronto is the heart of the urban area and this is about that hearty being successful."

Miller says revitalization of the waterfront is key. If the Gardiner gets taken down between Jarvis and the Don Valley Parkway, there are plans for a tree-lined waterfront blvd.

The cost for this facelift is between $200-300 million.

That doesn't take into account re-jigging the Bay/York/Yonge off-ramp.

CFRB's Katie Franzios has this report.

Council is expected to vote on the issue next week.
