Toronto and parts of the GTA are cleaning up following Tuesday night's severe thunderstorm.
The city's works and emergency crews are cleaning up a major stretch of the shoreline south of Lakeshore Blvd that was flooded with water from the heavy rainfall and sewage. A part of the board walk east of Sunnyside Park buckled under the weight of the water forcing the city to close off the area to the public.
Toronto Hydro say they are dealing with downed tree limbs on wires as well as malfunctioning traffic lights that were struck by lightning.
Environment Canada reports there were more than 400 lightning flashes during the storm.
Heavy flooding also caused a portion of the Don Valley Parkway, among other routes to be closed temporarily.
There are power problems outside Toronto as well. Hydro One reports that more than 700 customers in North Gwillumberry and Whitchurch will be without power Wednesday morning, and may not until about noon.
