Amber Gero's report on school safety report
Toronto police could soon have a closer relationship with the city's high schools.
Recommendations in a Toronto District School board staff report are said to include a heightened police presence in the schools. Other recomnendations include new procedures for dealing with student sex assaults and dozens of new staff to work with kids in trouble.
School board trustee Cathy Dandy says its not their intent to turn Toronto's schools into police buildings. Instead she says police will be providing more resources to schools and working to strengthen security around the school.
This report is the result of action taken to improve school safety a year after Jordan Manners was shot and killed at C.W. Jeffries Collegiate in North York.
The report will be released later this morning
