Ryan Bird Reports on Hybrid Buses

Toronto's new hybrid diesel-electric buses are saving less than half the amount of fuel the TTC said they would. As recently as March, the Transit Commission, along with federal, provincial and municipal governments, claimed the new buses were using 20 to 30 percent less fuel. That's not the case according to the TTC's current fuel-savings estimate however. Testing on the buses, conducted last summer, show that the number is closer to 10 percent.
