Deals may be close at hand to prevent possible strike action against General Motors Canada and Chrysler Canada.

The three year package accepted by the workers at Ford of Canada was taken to GM and Chrysler on Monday. Canadian Auto Workers union president Buzz Hargrove had given his team until 6pm last night to get agreement on the same package that Ford agreed to. But late last night Hargrove said they were close so negotiations would continue.

G-M and Chrysler have a combined total of 22-thousand workers.
