Ryan Bird reports on the neighbours - angry over the golf club 'eyesore'

Residents that back onto the driving range at the Weston Golf and Country Club are angry over a new 30-metre-high barrier that is being built. The barrier, which consists of a number of tall, black poles and eventually netting, is meant to prevent wayward golf balls from flying into backyards or worse, homes.

Listen to Ryan Bird's report

Golf club president John Latimer says they put up the barrier following a court ruling against the Islington Golf Club, which had been in a legal battle with a neighbour over errant golf balls. Latimer tells the Globe and Mail that his club met with neighbours before building the barrier and even adjusted their design to use fewer poles.

"They've been unfairly dismissive," concerned resident Tim Bunting told CFRB's Bill Carroll Morning Show with Jim Richards, referring to the golf club.

Another resident says it's frustrating that he has to get city permission before building a fence that is taller than 2.5 metres, yet the golf club can build a 30-metre-high fence without permission.
