After the Raids

Police raids targetting guns and gangs over the past few years in the city have lead to hundreds of arrests, charges, and major seizures of drugs and guns.

But did they work? And how are the communities, which have been the epicentres of these raids, now?

In April 2004, "Project Pathfinder" clamped down on the "Galloway Boys", a gang in the east-end of Scarborough that police say was involved in an all out gang war with the "Malvern Crew" a neighbouring gang.

One year later, police all but decimated the Malvern Crew, rounding up more than 100 suspected gang members.

September 2005, more than 300-officers execute more than 40 search warrants in the Jane and Finch area.  The target was the "Ardwick Blood Crew".

In May of 2006, their rivals, the "Jamestown Crips" were taken down in pre-dawn raids.  More than 106 people were arrested and more than 40 guns were recovered.

Project Kryptic, in June 2007, saw police return to the Jane and Finch area.

CFRB News went back to those areas to find out if the raids made a difference for the people in those communities.
